Tyrese Maxey: Top 10 PG Potential?

By; John Nevins

Tyrese Maxey has been a really nice addition to the Philadelphia 76ers. Ever since Ben Simmons sat out this season and then was traded to the Brooklyn Nets, Tyrese Maxey has really stepped into his own as the Sixers’ starting point guard. After following Maxey this season, there has been a great improvement for Maxey from last season into this one. The addition of James Harden has also helped Maxey’s development. The question does remain, does Tyrese Maxey have the potential to be a top ten point guard in the NBA? The answer, is yes.

Last season, Tyrese Maxey averaged 8 points per game, 2 assists per game, 1.7 rebounds per game, a .462 field goal percentage, a three-point percentage of .301, and he did that in about 15 minutes per game. However, this season in an average of 35 minutes per game, Maxey now is averaging 17.5 points per game, 4 assists, 3 rebounds, a total field goal percentage of .485, and a three-point percentage of, .427.

Maxey’s game has taken a massive leap forward because of how well he has been playing, the fact that his game took that big of a jump is remarkable. Another thing is, that he is so young too, so he has even more room to grow. If Tyrese Maxey isn’t a top 10 point guard already, then he is very close. Maxey definitely has the potential to be a top 10 point guard in the NBA.
